“SAND TIDES STRATA”
SEA PINE BEACH
This is where the link will jump to
The film illustrates how the SAND TIDES STRATA picture came to fruition as I witnessed the drastic change of the “sand tides.” I created the piece by documenting Sea Pine Beach over five years to illustrate the overlooked patterns of radical environmental shifts.
”OCEAN CHROMA”
SEA RANCH COAST
This is where the link will jump to
The film explores the myriad ocean colors and patterns that I witnessed over one year on the 11-mile stretch of coastline in Sea Ranch, California. From raging white waves to lapping cerulean water, the ocean never repeats its mercurial incarnations.
”LOSING GROUND”
SEA PINE TREELINE
This is where the link will jump to
When my documentation for The Intertidal Project began, climate change was not a driving motivation. However, several years of “super storms” have hit the fragile bluffs and eroded locations where I stand to repeat my compositions. Some have completely fallen into the ocean, eliminating the chance to continuously document my cherished spots.
”SAND TIDES”
BUDDHA BEACH
This is where the link will jump to
My repeated visits to Buddha Beach over the past five years have revealed the strata of rocks hiding below the sand. I chronicled the “sand tides” as climate change robbed the beach of sand cover and exposed the rock beneath. I’ve continued to climb out on the rocks to document the location and hope for the sand’s return.
”SPLASH IMPRINT”
GALLEONS REACH
This is where the link will jump to
The film allows the viewer to experience the power of 30’ waves cresting over a 100’ cliff where the SPLASH IMPRINT pictures were created. Aside from capturing the wave’s force with reverence and awe, the goal was to return home unharmed. Seriously, don’t try this.
”INK TRACES”
WALK ON BEACH
This is where the link will jump to
Illustrating the genesis of the INK TRACES pictures, the film shares my ritual of washing journal pages as I continue to invite the ocean to leave its imprint upon my own. Some pages are lucky to return while others are stolen by the tides.
