FILM SHORTS

”SAND TIDES STRATA”
SEA PINE BEACH

sandstrata

The film illustrates how the SAND TIDES STRATA picture came to fruition by witnessing the drastic change in “Sand Tides”. The piece was created while religiously documenting Sea Pine Beach over five years to illustrate patterns often overlooked that create radical environmental shifts.

”OCEAN CHROMA”
SEA RANCH COAST

oceanchroma

The film explores the myriad of shifting water colors and patterns, from white waves to lapping water, witnessed over a year on the 11 mile coastline of Sea Ranch, California. Like a snowflake the ocean never repeats its mercurial incarnations.

”LOSING GROUND”
SEA PINE TREELINE

losingground

When my documentation for The Intertidal Project began climate change was not a driving motivation. However, several years of “Super Storms” have collided with the fragile bluffs eroding essential locations where I stand to repeat my compositions. Some have fallen into the ocean entirely eliminating my chance to continuously document the cherished spot.

”SAND TIDES”
BUDDHA BEACH

sandtides

My relentless visits to “Buddha Beach” over the past five years have revealed the strata of rocks hiding below the sand chronicling the “Sand Tides”. In the past three years climate change has robbed the beach of sand cover exposing drastic change. I continue to climb out on the rocks to document the location while I hope for the sand’s return.

”SPLASH IMPRINT”
GALLEONS REACH

splashimprint

The film allows the viewer to experience the power of 30’ waves cresting over a 100’ cliff where the SPLASH IMPRINT pictures were created. Aside from capturing the wave’s imprinting with reverence and awe the goal is to return home unharmed. Seriously, don’t try this. I almost died there once but the last frame before it took me down is amazing.

”INK TRACES”
WALK ON BEACH

inktraces

Illustrating the genesis of the INK TRACES pictures the film shares my ritual of washing journal pages by allowing the ocean to leave its imprint upon my own. Some pages are lucky to return while others are stolen by the tide.
